She called 'em as she saw 'em.

I’ve been sitting here staring at the page for 15 minutes trying to figure out a polite way to tell you about what’s on my mind today.

It’s something my grandmother used to say.

Forgive me, but considering her message, I’ll just tell you what she said rather than wasting any more time trying to make it sound clever or pretty.

"Sweethaat," she’d say in her Brooklyn accent, "pay attention or you’ll piss your life away one day at a time."

With every year that passes, the truth in that statement becomes more glaringly clear.

I make it a point – I make it my living – to pay attention, to be intentional, to live on purpose, and still, time flies.

When I talk to friends or other people my age, I hear the same things:

"Where does the time go?"
"I thought I’d be further along."
"Maybe it’s too late."

No one thinks they’re not paying attention. In fact, all of these people are busy as hell. They’re go-go-going all the time.

They’re just not getting where they want.

And every January 1st they’re either frustrated or vow that this will be the year they do it.

Next month, 2021 will be half over.

And I’m here to tell you with 100% certainty that wherever you are in relation to your goals you can still end this year feeling the way you planned when it started.

Excited, happy, and proud.
